I had got transferred from Qatar project to Algeria & joined as a Planning Engineer in DODSAL ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION FZE. ALGERIA& served there from 29th September, 2009 to 4th December, 2009. I had resigned from that job for my marriage purpose.

I worked there for the project of MEI 1 New LNG Train Skikda, Algeria. Owner of this project was Sonatrach & Our client was Kellogg Brown & Root Int’l Inc, Houston, USA. Our scope of work was “Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation Installation for New LNG Train and Fractionation Unit”.

 

As a planning engineer I was responsible for the followings responsibilities:

1.      Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly progress reports (Customer reports and Internal MIS Reports)

2.      Prepare and analyze Project Progress variance on weekly and monthly basis. Inform concerned department about the same and suggest corrective actions.

3.      Change Order Management (Change in scope of Work) – Compilation of variation cost data for VOR’s with consultation with respective departments.

4.      Development of various Construction Schedules (Contract/Base line Schedule, 3 Weeks Look Ahead Schedule, Plan vs. Actual Comparison Schedule etc.), updating construction schedules & monitoring periodically. Manpower planning based on the updated schedules.

5.      Prepares and presents planning and scheduling information to management/clients as required.

6.      Leads the development and review of schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources required to affect such plans.

7.      Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.

8.      Supports development of scheduling standards and procedures. Compiles, summarizes, updates, and maintains historical schedule data. Monitors and reports critical-path and schedule performance of the total project.

9.      Plans and organizes schedule resource loading and leveling. Integrates appropriate staffing requirements for each discipline/specialty relative to the overall project needs. Determines quantity and staffing levels in support of the project needs and schedule philosophy.

10.  Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects. Develops biding schedules. May participate in discussions with vendors.

11.  Interfaces with designated management and client counterparts for specific planning and scheduling tasks.

12.  Reviews or assists in reviewing proposal provisions related to schedule and material control, and develops supporting data for contract negotiations.

13.  Originates, initiates, identifies events of delays, notification, quantification and filing of claims for Extension of Time.

14.  Provides comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control. Prepares detailed staffing plans for planning and scheduling activities.

15.  Maintain adequate database management system for all Planning Department documents & records.

16.  Liaise, consult, communicate and conduct weekly coordination meeting with engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor the progress of the project and discuss commercial problems that might affect the smooth construction flow.
