Currently, I am working for BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa on the DMO projects. I am part of a core team of individuals that specializes in Project Management. This project is multi phased, consisting of basic design, detail design, procurement, fabrication, execution and commissioning. The execution is also multi disciplined, which include the following - earthworks, civils, buildings, structural steel, piping, mechanicals, electrical and instrumentation erection, as well as commissioning and ramp-up, in the coal mining industry. Using Primavera Project software, I utilized the EPMC level 4 schedules and integrated all these resource loaded schedules, into an over-all project schedule, providing monthly reports and earned value S-curves for Management meetings. I assisted with Bid Evaluation, Contractor Selection, Management and co-ordination of interface milestones with the EPCM contractors. The familiarity with contract documents, general conditions, special conditions, scope of work and contractual drawings is of great importance. Analyzing sub-contractor’s schedules to make sure they are still on schedule, checking earned progress versus planned progress, based on earned man-hours. Currently the project is in the process of “Ramp-up”.
