Programme and Project Control Manager, Katanga Mining, Upgrade(Brownfield) of a Copper and Cobalt refinery to produce upwards of 150 000t of Copper and 30000tons of Cobalt. (Value is $900m).

Achieving the scheduled performance, cost, quality, health, safety and environmental requirements of the project from contract award to Operations acceptance whilst negotiating all contract changes with the EPC, Vendors and Contractors if necessary. Authorization to determine all matters affecting the implementation and operation of the contract. Initiating the formulation of project policy or recommendations for the Client in all key areas in particular planning, procurement, estimating, and constructing and contract changes. This includes meeting with Engineering and Procurement contractor, the Vendors and Construction Contractors to review and handover contract and proposal documentation prior to commencement of work. Co-ordinating the activities of the main functional groups through the Managers/Lead Engineers on the project. Liaison with and co-ordination of Contractors and Suppliers to re resolve technical, schedule and commercial issues. Review requests / recommendations to change milestones, determine impact on overall project and acceptability or otherwise.  Managed the development of Project Reports, and establishes the requirements of such reporting. Conducted formal risk reviews, including schedule risk analysis and cost control in performance of costs risk analysis.  Managed all areas of Project Execution Planning and Contracting Strategies and use of my expertise in the areas of Project Planning Control and Business Planning and knowledge of the latest engineering and project execution philosophies include Change Management. Provided Project Planning and Control input to tenders and presentations from EPC, Vendors and Contractors. Involvement of  the project scope and commercial conditions and deal with contractual and claims issues. Set-up and supervise the Project Planning taskforce and delegate responsibilities for areas of work to be undertaken to ensure all Project Planning and Control services are provided to the project. Ensured that the timely implementation of project procedures for Planning is in accordance with relevant company procedures, systems and practices. Prepared comprehensive monthly project status reports in accordance with the project procedure and Project Planning and Control department practice. Ensured the timely preparation and issue, and updating of project programs. Co-ordinate the efforts of planning, cost control and estimating to incorporate the requirements of changes to the project scope of work.

Involved in the ongoing work of the project to discern adverse trends, potential problem areas, opportunities and participate in their proactive management. Duties also to travel to Construction sites in the DRC and some overseas travel to engineering offices in Canada and UK.
