Civil Engineer, Internacional de Engenharia - IESA, Many civil engineering projects

START Date:
August, 1977
END Date:
July, 1980

IESA - Internacional de Engenharia is a large project engineering corporation. The Montreal Corp. bought it from Morrison-Knudsen to perform major national and international private, semi-public and governmental projects. Many years later it was sold to other group and underwent a major restructuring.

I was a project civil/structural engineer within the Civil/Structural Division for several large projects. I performed engineering structural design, field construction inspection & supervision, and materials volume estimation of diverse structures in reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete and steel for very large industrial, commercial, nuclear and government projects including:
• The colossal hydroelectric power plant of Itaipu Binacional (with the world's 2nd largest dam).
• The plant and support facilities for Angra I and Angra II nuclear reactors in Angra dos Reis.
• The large aluminum plant and support facilities, channels, roads, of the Valesul plant in Rio de Janeiro.
• The large steel plant and support facilities, channels, roads of the CSN plant in Volta Redonda, RJ.
• Reinforced & pre-stressed structures of the 12 mile long Rio-Niteroi bridge (world's seventh longest bridge).
• Reinforced concrete structures of diverse Sao Paulo's subway stations and Lines 1 & 2.
• Reinforced concrete structures and special paving for Rio de Janeiro's International Airport lanes and facilities.
• Reinforced concrete structures of Carajás mining complex and railroad station (world's largest open mine).
• Components of manufacturing, chemical, metallurgic and naval industry plants, dams, railroads, bridges, reservoirs, airport lanes and facilities, interstate road structures and retaining walls, forts, etc.
