2009 Jan – 2010 Jan and 2008 Jan – May: Sasol Petroleum International, South Africa

Based in Johannesburg on a consultancy basis to assist in the establishment of high level planning and project controls using the Primavera P6 tool. Specifically, the contract was to realise systematic control of SPI up-stream gas exploration and development project activities in Mozambique and elsewhere, including:

  • 2010 Upstream Mozambique Well campaign preparation and seismic implementation;
  • Downstream CPF 183 expansion project, Mozambique;
  • Associated projects integration and future asset expansion.

The assignment included the integration of the Sasol SPI corporate business development model (B,D&I, gate review processes) which was demonstrated using the Primavera tool set. Multiple project resource, time and budget control. The project controls system was established and included in-house mentoring and final report with future development recommendations.  The consultancy was initially performed in the name of PetrofacEngineering Ltd., UK in 2008. Between January and December 2009 this work continued with company change management incorporating;

-  Integration of planning through the operational departments of SPI; Primavera P6, MS Project;

-  Deepening planning methodology and governance by applying company policies and processes, including  resource analysis, WBS compatibility and  earned value; SAP integration through Prism tool;

-  Representation of the rolling capital plan (P6).

The scope of consultancy planning included all global SPI projects but corporate planning and processes predominantly used the Mozambique asset (growth and development) as an empirical model.
