Syncrude is one of the largest operators in Canada’s growing oil sands industry in Fort McMurray Alberta with current production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day of high quality light crude oil.

 

Job Profile & Major Achievements:

Developed and supervised the production of resource loaded level 3 and 4 EPC schedules in Primavera Enterprise for a portfolio of 30 sustaining and reliability projects worth more than C$300 million. Lead the schedule development, maintenance, review and analysis activities during all project phases. Analyzed schedule trends and provided feedback to project teams on unfavorable deviations and possible corrective actions.

 

Recast cost estimates into budgets, set up work breakdown structure (WBS) for multiple projects. Maintained and presented detailed project cost reports and forecast spending profiles.

 

Recorded, analyzed and documented the incurred costs, scope changes, trends and forecasts for projects to assist cost estimation team in refining estimates for future projects.

 

Produced resource demand curves for construction and commissioning groups, and checked curves submitted by engineering contractor.

 

Organized the analysis of cost/schedule variances & contingency diminution with the project management teams. Identified deviations from baseline execution plan and proposed remedial actions to prevent cost overruns and schedule delays.

 

Implemented Earned Value Management System using both Primavera P6 and in-house Oracle based project control system. Recast estimates for activity cost loading, collected actual physical progress and expenditure.

 

Lead the implementation of project dashboards to provide stakeholders with a graphical snapshot of projects key performance indicators (KPI) in order to enable proactive tracking of project health.

 

Prepared monthly project schedule progress and cost forecast reports, and liaised with project managers, senior managers, engineers and construction specialists to identify problem areas and explore possible solutions.
