Laurence Pole
Laurence is an experienced professional civil engineer with more than thirty years working in design and construction of infrastructure development works for municipal, mining, manufacturing and materials handling projects. He has managed multi disciplinary teams to implement projects on time and within budget. At times he has been required to take over projects that were in difficulty and was able to slow or stop further blowouts and recover significant costs and complete the projects within the contract scope. Particular skills include: • Problem solving and development of innovative and cost effective solutions. • Interpersonal communication, including the ability to negotiate effectively at senior levels to establish and implement work undertakings. • Providing leadership, training and motivation of staff. • Commercially astute, able to prepare contract documentation, engage contractors and cost manage projects. Laurence is now semi retired and teaches Cost Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.
