Richard joined Crossrail in June 2015 as Head of Controls. His move to Crossrail is a return to hands-on programme management after having spent the previous 6 years in the corporate world helping to run, grow and evolve companies such as Parsons Brinckerhoff, Balfour Beatty and most recently, Mace.

He has worked on key UK major infrastructure projects such as the Jubilee Line Extension, Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the West Coast Route Modernisation Project, and now adds Crossrail to his list.

He has extensive programme and project knowledge, built on an experienced based career delivering major process improvement initiatives, as well as Commercial Management, Project Controls, Project Management, Quality and Collaboration. In 2007, he was awarded the Bechtel GOLD standard for Six Sigma Excellence, recognizing his work in Contracts Management as ‘Best in Practice’ within the company. In December 2008 he successfully delivered the last Major Project on the West Coast Route Modernisation for Network Rail, the remodelling of Milton Keynes station and the associated Permanent Way. 

At PB, Richard led a Corporate Change Programme to align Project Controls across the business. He then played a key role in managing the IT integration for 600+ Balfour Beatty staff into PB. In May 2012 he was appointed Head of BB Group PMO working directly with the BB Group Executive. He joined Mace in November 2013 as Director of Programme Management. At Mace he built an accredited in-house APM training scheme in addition to a programme management training scheme in partnership with Cranfield University. He led the Team to securing key contracts with TfL and has also worked directly with The United Nations and most recently on a tender for a major programme of national importance with HM Government. 

Richard is a Fellow and a Supervising Civil Engineer with the ICE.
