Chris has been involved in various sectors of the Construction Industry since graduating with an Architecturally based Construction degree in 1994. He started his career as an architectural technician but swiftly moved into design and then construction management, with particular emphasis on scheduling multiple location commercial refit projects and coordinating both design and build operations under compromised working conditions. This introduction led him to start using graphics packages to help produce visual planning guides, leading to the development of the PAL package of tools for use in 4D planning. He was involved with the formation of A3D in 1999 and is a leading figure in the development of 4D Planning and Coordination for the Construction Industry.

Experience has included commercial, industrial, governmental, and residential projects, buildings as well as infrastructure and boats.

Chris is also lecturing in the Construction Management Department at NMMU and looking at including BIM planning as part of honours and post graduate studies in Construction Management.

He has also travelled extensively working on projects from South Africa to the Sudan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and UK. He is active in educating the broader Project and Construction Management industry on the use of new technology to improve on project delivery and has published a treatise titled ‘Improving Construction Planning through 4D Planning’, achieving a Highly Commended Award from Emerald Group Publishing JEDT. He has presented at numerous industry conferences including PMSA 2008; ASOCSA & CBE 2007; Construction H&S 2007 & VR Net 2006. He has had articles published in Building Canada and is in the process of compiling a book on how to implement 4D planning in the construction industry.
