I am a projects section head Engineer for Planning and cost control in a construction offshore services company.

I am 9 years experience in offshore works [laying of sub-sea pipelines, laying of sub-marine cables, installation of offshore platforms (Jackets and Decks),piping modification works on existing platforms].

I manage 6 engineers in my department.

My current position in the running projects is a deputy project manager.

My role and responsibilities are:

  1- Manage Initiation phase of the awarded project.

  2- Responsible for highlighting areas of concerns and solutions to help achieve a successful and timely completion of Projects.

  3-follow up closely with vendors and subcontractors on the execution of project Procurement and Manufacturing schedules

  4-Participates in the negotiations on project control aspects with Vendors and Contractors; Reviews and comment on Contractors' and Vendors' schedules; Issues revised schedules including corrective actions.

  5-Prepares progress measurement procedures for all phases of the project including determination of weight factors.

  6-Collects and compiles back-up data for project statistics and ratio calculations.

  7-Provides assistance to the Project Manager on project delays, reasons and corrective action suggestions.
