Mark Ruffell-Hazell
Mark is a professional engineer who, for the past 20 years, has focussed on the field of Project, Program and Portfolio Performance Management.
Mark gained his first exposure to formal Project Management disciplines in the UK from 1992 as Assistant Leader to the Thames Water Utilities' (UK) Instrumentation, Control and Automation. After moving to Melbourne, his 1996 role as Project Engineer for the P3 Orion Navigation Subsystem Refurbishment (Honeywell Space and Aviation - 1997) presented him with the opportunity to work within the rigour of Earned Value Management systems. Further Earned Value opportunities followed with his position as Project Analyst for the Jindalee Operational Radar Network ((JORN) – RLM 2000).
Mark joined the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) as a contractor in 2003, promoting cultural change in the areas of Project Controls. He became a Public Servant in 2004, managing the Performance Management section for the MATIS PMO. In addition to Project Manager roles, from 2011 Mark was a Divisional Project Controller and regular participant on the DMO Project Controls Community of Practice (PC COP) [chaired 2011-12].
Since 2014 Mark’s career focus has been on corporate business intelligence, centres of expertise and the enabling policy, process and software tools.
Mark has been a member of the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) since 2006 (Certified Practicing Project Director) and chaired the AIPM Victorian Project Controls Community of Practice (PC COP) from 2009 to 2013.
