Guild of Project Controls (GPC) Update Message (End March 2013)

Dear Members,

As you all know, we have been working for some time now on an entity you all voted for in forming the Guild of Project Controls (GPC).

At Planning Planet (PP), we have managed with the help and invaluable assistance of many of you to bring this vision to fruition: this year will be the year finally when your Guild will be there for the benefit of you all changing our industry for the better forever.

All Things Guild...

If you are following how PP is managing to finalise the Standards of Practice that will form the backbone of Standards for the formation of the Guild we are now making giant strides: to all intents and purposes the first Standard; Planning & Scheduling (some would say the most onerous) is complete and has surprised us in the level of feedback from all parties - senators and practitioners we have met in person to name a few:

Here are some exerts...

  • 'A very complete document - sticks to the principals'
  • ' evangalises  the fundamentals as I would like to see them applied'
  • 'WELL DONE TO ALL WHO WORKED ON THIS DOCUMENT - WELL DONE INDEED'
  • 'In view of the subject matter complexity, I was astounded...now the Guild is on its way...'
  • 'A great document that somehow satisfies the Global interpretation of Planning and Scheduling...'
  • 'I must admit that my reservations with your extremely high set of objectives has been totally blown away - you are really going to write acceptable global standards.'
  • 'The Guild is going to get there...'

Three days ago our second Standard; Forensic Analysis, was also put forward for final review and we are very pleased with the content here too...

Our final Standard; Cost Management is maximum two months away from an internal review...

We are now working hard to find an independent global examiner so Guild members can become Accredited.  If you have any ideas that may supplement our current ongoing discussions, please contact ppadmin@planningplanet.com

To remind you all, the PP vision is to reward those proven to be competent with all the benefits this entails, from finding your next job, staffing your team, career path to crucial cross-project team capability and attracting new blood into Project Controls... these benefits are huge enough and we could go on... and on...

So, we at PP are pretty satisfied so far that we are delivering on our promise of a global, independent, pan-industry Accreditation process that has been established by the acknowledged masters of our industry and will be delivered in a manner that all can become involved for the benefit of all... the Guild is for the members and any revenues will be sent for the benefit of the membership which leads us to the crux of this Newsletter...

We need more Corporate Involvement in this process... our strengths are many we do though need the input from more Corporates in recognising the Standards we can now show to be of dramatic substance: whilst applauding those Corporates that have supported us since we launched a dream - now is the time for us all to benefit from the reality.

Contact ppadmin@planningplanet.com to be involved, hopefully as a sponsor, contributor or introducer.  Your Guild is very close to completion please help us to realise a venture which is truly worth an involvement.

The Guild of Project Controls delivering pan industry, globally for the benefit of all.

Thank you
