Planning & Programming of Logistics

I was appointed Planning Manager at initial stages of the project development the £100 Million Emergency Care Centre project in late 2008. This role also included development of a logistical and methodology plan required to serve the project’s needs. The project was located in the centre of one the busiest NHS Hospital and Teaching facility in Europe. It was also in a cul-de-sac location. It required:-

  1. Assessment of labour numbers to deliver the project on time
  2. Assessment of material production requirements to deliver the project on time
  3. Assessment of methods required to satisfy the above
  4. Assessment of delivery and logistical methods to serve the above
  5. Recognition of requirements of all construction approaches required above within the tight confines of the NHS site, complete with maintaining all blue-light routes clear at all times.

As the developer of the logistical plan, it was required of me to present the attached file to the NHS Grampian Board, since utilisation of a Delivery Control Zone, and dedicated labourforce carparking on site, was fundamental to the uninterrupted maintenance of the NHS patient services, and timely project completions. The principles were accepted by NHS and we were allowed to proceed. The logistics plan was scheduled, planned and costed. It was submitted to the market and tendered as a substantial package to the specialists in the market. Please refer to that presentation attached.
