 MOST RECENT WORK EXPERIENCE

Oct 2006 – Dec 2006: Project contols officer for Metronet – Construction team – London underground Station upgrade project

 

During this last period with Metronet I was tasked with the restructuring of the “Project Controls and Reporting Procedures” for the Construction management team of the London Underground Station upgrade project with METRONET in London - whilst continuing project planning duties on all the projects allocated to me.

Responsibilities included:

  • To create a simple and user friendly Progress Reporting System between the design team; construction team, QS, commercial managers and project managers for regular period reporting to director’s level by:
    • Identifying current report back processes and duplication in reports
    • Eliminate and reinstate minimal report back documents in Excel.
    • Create easy numbering and reference system for all to identify with.
    • Simplify methods for report back on all levels and create user friendly manual
    • Re-arrange information and create links with intelligent excel programming between the different reports to collate and collectively compile neat reports for monthly report back sessions.
    • Create & Implement user friendly links between Excel reports for management - downloaded from project planning software (Prima Vera (P3) or MS project).

 

Feb 2006 – Sep 2006: Project Planner for Metronet – Construction team - London Underground Station Upgrade Project - UK

Project Planner on the construction side for the modernisation / refurbishment of 9 London Underground Station buildings and tunnel infrastructure, of which current live projects are Putney Bridge, Ravenscourt Park Station, Chiswick Park and Preston Road with their combined construction value circa £20m Sterling.

Use of P3e, P3 and Excel software to prepare and control individual station construction programs by producing 4-weekly:

  • site progress S-Curves
  • updated programs which are cost and resource loaded
  • program look-ahead
  • critical path Programs
  • 2-week look-ahead by discipline for discipline activity foreword planning
  • assurance reports namely fire safety, HSQE, Heritage and any other Client approval documentation
  • summary construction reports with forecast completion dates and summaries of issues
  • period performance reports (PPR)

 

Feb 2003 – Jan 2006: Senior Project Planner for the Station Design TEAM on the Metronet: London Underground Station Upgrade Project - UK

Appointed as BCV (Bakerloo/Central/Victoria) underground tube line Senior Project Planning Engineer with the ASDT (Atkins Stations Design Team). Started as part of the original team of 13 members on the project; team size increased to ± 230 staff on the Atkins Station Design Team within 18 months. Responsible for reporting, predicting and forecasting progress and completion of half the project’s design projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Initial build-up of P3 (Prima-Vera) station design programs for BCV (Deep & Old Tube lines) & SSL (Subsurface Tube Lines) stations;
  • Managed the master-plan P3 project Program with sub-projects based on RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Stage design phases;
  • 26 updates - 13 Periods per year; progress reporting every 2 weeks for each station;
  • Issued 4-weekly scheduled Programs to Client;
  • At project peak I maintained 22 individual station design programs;
  • Developed a bespoke progress monitoring system which gathered and reported progress against budget hours, actual and earned hours as defined by discipline and per RIBA stage;
  • Monitored performance in terms of % completion per design stage;
  • Implement change control and show results on KPI charts;
  • Issue summary reports with forecast completion dates and any design issues for all BCV stations to Core Management.
  • Later produced detailed programs in MS Project to allow stakeholder interaction;
  • Issued scheduled P3 and/or MS Project Summary Programs to Client;
  • Issued “dashboard” tools per station containing s-curve, histograms and productivity charts for Core Design Management team;
  • Issued Progress Summary Reports in Excel with design narratives and issues of importance;
  • Produced and Update Change Control Register and records of implementation of changes into programs.
