August, 2006 • Prepare Tender and construction schedules: A tentative time schedule is prepared at the tender stage. This schedule is further detailed and refined at the construction phase.
• Monitor project progress: A progress report is usually prepared on a biweekly or monthly basis reporting an update on the time schedule, the status of all material submittals and delivery, shop drawings status, manpower, subcontractors’ status, major problems impeding progress in addition to proposed solutions to overcome these problems. Productivity rates of various trades are usually calculated.
• Issue monthly invoices.
• Prepare cost report: A cost report is prepared on a monthly basis. The aim of this report is basically to compare the budget cost versus the actual cost. The report helps to mark items, which suffer from over expenditure and corrective measures could be taken accordingly.
• Prepare claims for time extension and prolongation cost: The impact of variations on the baseline time schedule is calculated along with the associated cost.
• Resident planning engineer: Performed planning operations from the site. Projects include (British Embassy renovation project, Smart Village and Sheraton Al Gezirah hotel). Responsibilities include:
- Day to day monitoring of work and reporting progress on daily basis.
- Issue monthly or biweekly progress reports.
- Identifying and resolving areas of major impact on schedule.
- Following up offsite activities including design and procurement.
- Issue recovery schedules if necessary.
- Preparing delay analysis and calculating extended overhead costs to be submitted as part of claims for time extension.
