Phillip is now an authority in civility and wishes to nominate someone to take my place. Obviously, this person is bi-polar (or he does not read his own posts.) Here is what he said.

PPadmin,
I raise a strong objection to Ronald Winter’s first reply, and I suggest you remove him as a moderator, as he does not have the facilities to help members with problems, and have a negative attitude. Further he has this pre-diliction to edit and remove peoples postings. I object strongly to this, and if he cannot be helpful, and just be sarcastic, remove him as a moderator, I suggest Gwen Blair instead of this jackass.

It must be clear to you that we Moderators are on our own. I am not sure what PP wants (or is, for that matter.) Keep up the good fight. I sure am glad that we got you on our team.
Instead of discussing the topic of teh thread, Phillip is obsessed about the Moderators. He wants them investigated. According to him, we are depriving the community of his wisdom. It doesnt occur to him that we might actually be enforcing the rules that he agreed to when he signed-up. Here is a copy of the post.
--------------------------------
Hi James,
I do not understand, the moderators in this instance, as the debate, or discussion is fairly simplistic, why delete things that are useful to the PP community as a whole. Maybe the moderators need a bit of reining in, or maybe they have an interest, be it financially or otherwise they are protecting. I would like PP to forward the name of the relevant moderator, and run a check on him.
The discussion has been civilised and pretty normal, without serious abuse. My suggestion is we use the private message forum, or maybe even Skype, to discuss this matter and then post a message in a new forum, summarising what we have agreed or disagreed. If this is moderated, we can send it by private messages to all interested parties on this forum. To find me on skype is very easy, my details on this site will assist you, as I have nothing to hide, like the moderator, who has been deleting our postings. As they say, there is many ways to skin a cat. I am also forwarding this message to you via the private message service, and will include my e-mail address, just in case this moderator has admin rights.
I think that you are being too harsh. Phillip only threatened to kill me. It is not like the PP staff doesnt care. After all, they can always get Phillip to replace me when I am gone.

Here his his latest diatribe after I deleted a section of someone else’s post slamming Jonker for being so rude in public. [Get this - I was trying to say that others do not have the right to call Phillip names and he threatens me with death for it.]
-----------------------
Would have liked to read it, good appeal, think we need some appeal moderators around, ie a second opinion, not the straight ot censorship we have here. Ther is always scope for disagreements, and some good brawls, that is what forums are all about. So I join you appeal against that deletion, as I refuse to answer your reply unless I can read it. These forums are supposed to be educational, and as such, unless the replies are going to start a third world war, there is no basis for censorship, or moderation, as it is politely called on the site. PPAdmi, please take note of this. We are supposed to be professionals, please take account of who is on the receiving end, and let us decide whether the posting is objectionable, before autocratically having it deleted by some moderator, who probably has never sat in a decent site meeting, and would like to some day, so that he could censor the meeting, and produce minutes that are pure of thought and does not reflect the brawls and the swearing that went on. Lets get the forums operating on the real life situation, and reflect disputes and the rest. It is all well and true to try and to protect the Goodie good shoes, but there is actually a real life out there, and some of the moderators, seem to live in oblivion of this fact. Besides this, I will keep a copy of this posting, and forward it to all members for a vote if the responsible moderator tries to delete it. Democracy will rule, and I insist James’ posting is at least forwarded to myself, so I can decide whether I am affronted by it, this will decide whether it should be moderated or not. We could always send the errant moderators to the guillotene, or just let them dissapear into the sunset, like in the westerns. I think the guillotine is better, ass this is a revolution. Down with censorship, in the form of moderation, as we are all profesional grown-ups, who have been through the mill to get where where we are, and as such have the respect for each other to argue and disagree, without needing so-called ignoramus moderators, to settle our disputes, which in the end will give people an insight into planning.
My apologies, have not been able to visit or moderate for six months and must resign as a moderator as it is not going to get any better.
On Philip, and Clive / Oscar, et al IMHO you should just ban them. Sure they will bitch and moan but after a while, they would probably get bored and go elsewhere.

Phillip has completely gone over the deep end at http://www.planningplanet.com/forum/forum_post.asp?fid=&Cat=3&Top=13047. He is under the assumption that becaus the discussion is about censorship, then no cencorship will be exercised against him in this forum. I had to delete most of last weeks contributions and left a stern warning in that forum as follows:
Some contributing members of this discussion thread seem to assume that if you are talking about censorship, then you are exempt from the rules of this organization concerning profanities and personal attacks. Let me assure you that this is not the case. No extra allowances are made here. This particular forum can and will be closed and deleted in its entirety if this sort of behavior continues. The participants causing this deletion may not be allowed to remain as members.
Phillip seems to of recent been much more constructive, with less abuse. Why he cant stay polite defeats me. Does he realise that if he doesnt improve his tone people will recognise him as abusive and switch off even when he has something positive to say?
I dont like censorship, but people like Phillip seem to unfortunately need it.

In Phillips defense, he has been posting a lot of thoughtful pieces recently. He still has problems talking to the world without cussing (at least cussing but leaving some stars in places of the vowels) but is clear that he is trying.
Phillip is still my number one censoring problem, but it is becomming less often and he is recently posting useful information.
I just edited out the bolded words from his gem in the Totalitarianism vs. Democracy thread:
I believe that when you go the whole hog you really believe you can do the job so all you pussies that believe that moderators and the rest can sort out your life let them sort it out!! Because you can’t sort out your own life, that is why you refer to the moderators to protect you. I am using a junior planner to write this post so excuse the spelling, but I believe my junior planner is better than half of you a-holes and deserves better job:) just for a laughs, my junior planner cant spell and he is still learning, but he is quite good and he has the capability of learning but remember that he typed this, and this is the basis of democracy.
Any body how wants to learn fly-fishing can learn from my apprentice
Just to keep you up to date, Philip has not improved or behaved. He continues to test the limits, sending out four emails in series saying, "I am unable to be able to respond to that comment" in a row to appear to marter himseld. (I delted three of the four posintings to give Phillip what little dignity he has left.)
It appears that Phillip is now able to express himself without swearing if we delete 1/4 of what he says. I did not know that this was the responsability of the Moderatrs when I signed-up. It is kind of like censoring FOX network.
When Phillip meets Jimmy Robert, look out! Phillip pasted Jimmy a good one and I deleted the personal attack portion but left the rest. Below is what I deleted.
============================================
I find your questions rather strange and awkward questions, as I have had some dealings with you in the past, where you seemed to be like a bit of methane gas on the moors of England. You send out questions and don’t reply.

I believe that slashdot also operated on a "self-moderating" system. I wouldnt suggest we go that way.
Perhaps we can post a message to every PP member stating why we have banned Jonker and asking them to support our actions for the good of the PP community ?

vBulletin 3.x forum software has this. Its called "reputation" and allows forum members to vote on other members posts. In every forum where I have seen the system employed, it has been a source of frustration for members. It usually boils down to enabling cliques of members to continually pump each other up and tear others down. It does not contribute to a friendly, open forum IMO.
The bottom line is that some folks do not like criticism (or "censorship") whether its from a moderator or a member (anonymous or not).
It has just dawned on us that we can add something similar to the feedback system which they have on Ebay.
On Ebay, you can add a note against the sellers profile indicating how pleased or diss-pleased you are with the service you have recieved in relation to the article you have just purchased.
Perhaps we could add a means of adding feedback against the forum posts so that other PPers can say how helpful the reply was on a scale of 1 to 5, or to allow a black-mark to be placed for unhelpfullness / rudeness etc??
These items of feedback could be shown against a PPers profile so that you could easily see how he is interacting and adding value to the group. We could sort out a policy of "5 Black Marks" prevents you from posting for a specified period of time or something.
This "PPer Grade" and "Black-Marks" could be shown next to each PPers name to show the group how he / she is interacting.
Worth thinking about??
Perhaps this will help solve our problem without things being personal and blame being placed against us moderators for moderating a post.
This problem of reporting is something that hurts us all, the simplistic ways have been removed, there is a bunch of idiots running around, saying they are planners, and they know how to format excel spreadsheets, they claim to be the new breed, but I have given them a job and they don’t know there arse from their elbow. But they think they rule the roost. "
I then found about 10 other meaningless postings. I therefore deleted them., there were too many to edit them all.
Please let me know if I should not delete them and if I should take a copy.
We are on the case. What is going to happen when we ban him is that he is going to actively cause as much bother as possible. This is a cause for concern, but you are right, we cant go on as we are.
We have contacted him again for a response.
Regards.

There is a couple of them that volunteered as moderators, and if you are not quick enough to read this posting, it will be deleted, care of these so-called moderators, who are in charge.
Phillip is making our jobs a Moderators easier - he is ensuring that fewer and fewer people will be posting messages in the future. Her is a current sample,
===============================================
Hi Andrew,
Your posting means nothing, are you part of the solution or the probleblem? and if u are problematic explain.
"...do not think you can take me on, I can get a million e-mail addresses, and aliases, and give you more flack than you ever needrd, however, I try and be loyal to the site"
That says it all for me. Philip just doesnt have the maturity or social grace to maintain a civil or professional tone/manner IMO. What experience and knowledge he might bring to the forum is far outweighed by his rudeness and negativity.
At this point he is trolling for fights. No further good will come from humoring him IMO. For what it is worth, I agree with Mark - its time to ban him.
Once again, I humbly suggest restricting new sign-ups to admin approval before activation or at least requiring a business email address. Anonymous accounts (@yahoo, @hotmail, @gmail, etc.) are only going to lead to trouble with the Philips of the world.
If the desire is to make the PP a forum for professionals, the requirement of participation under ones own name should not be that onerous IMO.
Apparently I am now, crossed the line to renegadeship, as I pissed off about thirty people who want me removed from the site. Their complaints have not been forwarded to me, so PP. leave my justice up to the rest of you 9970 members, as to what my fate should be as a result of my commitment to democracy and the campaign against censorship, and incompetents. You all know the PPadmin address, so either your support or objection would be appreciated. The problem is that only the complainants get heard, in this case .003%, lets hear the positives.
Regards
Philip

I think we should temporarily stop responding to these urgent SOS ...---... messages from the people who knows it all (bad grammar)and respect their qualifications as top class planners who knows all the answers. We might be crossing the line when it comes to misinformation, and ethics, ie how can you help someboby who knows it all, ie is clevere than you. I hope this is not taken as a rude or unprofessional comment.
-------------------------------
I could probably have helped, but have been banned, as such is persona non grata
-------------------------------
Moderators rule
-------------------------------
And moderators have the right to advertise themselves, despite their incompetence, delete this one ASAP
-------------------------------
Bernhardt/Andrew,
in a democratic environment you need the support of at least 66%, do not think you can take me on, I can get a million e-mail addresses, and aliases, and give you more flack than you ever needrd, however, I try and be loyal to the site
We have sent a private message (see below) to Phillip Jonker. The message has been written ignoring the fact that we think he is in the wrong. We want to get his thoughts on how his brain thinks we are abusing his rights etc!
Hope this helps. Your efforts and dedication are impressive.
We have about 30 emails and private messages from PPers requesting that you be removed from the site as a result of (using their words) rudeness and abuse on the forum. You are obviously a very experienced planning professional and we would very much like to have you stay with us and to hear your thoughts.
As a result, can we ask you for your specific thoughts on how we could change the site / forum. What is it that is / has annoyed you so much. What can (or should) be done differently etc.
We will pass your words on to the moderators and respond accordingly. We hope that this will help us resolve things. The moderators are a group of volunteers how put in a lot of time to help make the PP forum a success. Personally, I would like to know what can be done differently. If you have valid, logical reasons for change we will be pleased to accomodate them.

Do you have any understanding of the spanish Inquisisition, or even Hitler, you seem to project incomprehensebility itself in the lack of knowledge you have in this field, Mahatma Gandhi had a great feel for this, but obviously you have a zero understanding. You are like a lice, and ride on other peoples backs. I have had the pleasure of meeting the Dalai Lama and understood him perfectly, but I have a problem understanding you???????????
I thought you had something there, ie brains, but you disappointed me totally, you are just one of those guys who can hit the keys on the computor and nothing more. Bet you the moderators will delete this one

Later on (on teh same day,) I further had to delete fiv different posting by Phillip in the Claims Section. It seems that he is a Claims Expert now. Here is a sample post,
I have been working unprotected for over fifteen years, you guys seem to think you can make claims against whoever you want to. At the end of the day the claim is either against the client via the PM from the contractor, or if the client had the balls to appoint his own PM within his organisation, then the claim is directly against him. In normal terms these days, and this may sound funny, the client protects himself against claims by appointing a PM who in turn appoints a sub PM, and you might have as many as three middlemen. The case is trying to protect yourself against all these fancy claim specialists. This is the reason the NEC was brought in, to eradicate this type of bullshit! However, it seems there is still some of the bullshit around. Why do you not come around to my protected environment, and let me change your nappies.
I have stated this previously on several postings, I am anti claims, and would prefer amicable settlements, instead of all the bickering. The point is to get the jobs done and not to try and find a monetary reason why you came claim, against whoever.
So let the protection go and get out and do your job, ie build something without wingeing. I spent a fair time as a soldier, and more time as an engineer, and certainly do not lack the balls, to look for a protective environment.
If you have the cojones, let me know where you are, I would visit you with pleasure, and we can talk.
If you are not going to do anything about Phillip, then why not write a script that will allow us Moderators to follow him around to make it easier to clean-up after him?

Once again, Phllip has gone over the edge, running a series of insults at several different persons. I document it here before deleting the entire thing,
Hi Guys, the following hardly qualifies as contributions: Could you send me a copy of the guid at r.taheri@ksc.ir or "Are you there ???? " or "Could you send me a copy of the guid at r.taheri@ksc.ir" or "Can I get your guide? " or "Alex, would you please send your guide on progress update? I’m interested on the issue. Thanks (vnsvmrr@yahoo.com)" or whatever the point of the forums is about going forward, not about leeches
How does the term psychopathological hermit suit you. Unfortunately the doctors do not know how to deal with us animals. However, it is fun being slightly unbalanced, where you come from they call people like that Guru’s. If you had 10 braincells, you would get a grasp of life and stop refering other people to doctors.
==============================================
I later deleted two other rude comments made by Phillip and incule his latest parting shot here:
please be informed that such attitude from philip jonker is not accepted at all , this was not the first time
actually i know how to deal with people with such a very racial background but i cannot because i respect the formality of this forum andi respect people here as well.
your kindly requested to take the suitable action with this guy

Is it just me or is Bill Guthrie cut from the mold as Philip? If their user names were obscured, Id be hard pressed to guess which one wrote just about any of their posts.
I agree with Bernard. First Phillip says that everyone has a right to voice their opinion and then he takes slights at the thinnest of interpretations.
This may be a self-correcting case where the problem takes care of itself. I dont care if Phillip invents a reason to quit that suits his ego.

No offense, but I have given this a great deal of thought, Chris Oggham has been totally out of line, in taking umbrage to certain words I used. For instance the first attack came about the use of the word lazy, when he claimed he had no time available to check previous threads. This stinks of laziness, and the way the thread was going was to try and get PPAdmin, to delete threads, and do a policing job. I object to this, and was the subject of an attack as a result. When I made a suggestion on how to possibly resolve the problem, he claimed to be an expert on the subject. When I suggested he tries to help PPadmin, as an expert, he called me patronising. I suggest you talk to him about his attitude, and dependant on the reply I receive, I will not hesitate to conclude my membership of the PP site. I have a lot of thank yous from members I have helped, as well as positive feedback on my contributions from PPAdmin. I have always tried to help people, and have not intensionaly tried to harm the site. But if this attitude will prevail, I will withdraw.
Please forward this to the rest of the PPAdmin and moderators.
Yours Faithfully,
Philip Jonker
Seems Philip has no problem verbally abusing others but has a rather thin skin when criticism is directed his way. I thought Chris was pretty respectful in his replies.
I think the PP Admin will need to have the final word.

I find your questions rather strange and awkward questions, as I have had some dealings with you in the past, where you seemed to be like a bit of methane gas on the moors of England. You send out questions and don’t reply.

We have several helpful and polite posts from Mr Jonker, with only one reference to a piss-pot.
Perhaps he has mellowed.
Which remains to be seen!?

Hello All,
It has just dawned on us that we can add something similar to the feedback system which they have on Ebay.

Deleted this morning:
"RE: RE:
Hi felipe,
This problem of reporting is something that hurts us all, the simplistic ways have been removed, there is a bunch of idiots running around, saying they are planners, and they know how to format excel spreadsheets, they claim to be the new breed, but I have given them a job and they don’t know there arse from their elbow.

Hi Andrew,
Your posting means nothing, are you part of the solution or the probleblem? and if u are problematic explain.

I support the ban. Being civil to all should be so easy. Jonker seems to go out of his way to upset people.
Planning Planeters should not have to put up with this of behavoir, it does no good to the reputation of Planning Planet.

Hi guys,
Apparently I am now, crossed the line to renegadeship, as I pissed off about thirty people who want me removed from the site.

Philip

Hi bill/jaco,
I think we should temporarily stop responding to these urgent SOS ...---... messages from the people who knows it all (bad grammar)and respect their qualifications as top class planners who knows all the answers. We might be crossing the line when it comes to misinformation, and ethics, ie how can you help someboby who knows it all, ie is clevere than you. I hope this is not taken as a rude or unprofessional comment.

I could probably have helped, but have been banned, as such is persona non grata

Bernhardt/Andrew,
in a democratic environment you need the support of at least 66%, do not think you can take me on, I can get a million e-mail addresses, and aliases, and give you more flack than you ever needrd, however, I try and be loyal to the site

Hello all,
We have sent a private message (see below) to Phillip Jonker. The message has been written ignoring the fact that we think he is in the wrong. We want to get his thoughts on how his brain thinks we are abusing his rights etc!
Hope this helps. Your efforts and dedication are impressive.
PM Message.....
------------------------------------------------------
Hello Philip,
We have about 30 emails and private messages from PPers requesting that you be removed from the site as a result of (using their words) rudeness and abuse on the forum.
Regards....James

Later on (on teh same day,) I further had to delete fiv different posting by Phillip in the Claims Section. It seems that he is a Claims Expert now. Here is a sample post,
===================================================
Andrew,
I have been working unprotected for over fifteen years, you guys seem to think you can make claims against whoever you want to.
Regards
Philip

Hi Guys, the following hardly qualifies as contributions: Could you send me a copy of the guid at r.taheri@ksc.ir or "Are you there ???? " or "Could you send me a copy of the guid at r.taheri@ksc.ir" or "Can I get your guide? " or "Alex, would you please send your guide on progress update? I’m interested on the issue. Thanks (vnsvmrr@yahoo.com)" or whatever the point of the forums is about going forward, not about leeches

By the way Sunil,
How does the term psychopathological hermit suit you. Unfortunately the doctors do not know how to deal with us animals. However, it is fun being slightly unbalanced, where you come from they call people like that Guru’s. If you had 10 braincells, you would get a grasp of life and stop refering other people to doctors.

I agree with Bernard. First Phillip says that everyone has a right to voice their opinion and then he takes slights at the thinnest of interpretations.
This may be a self-correcting case where the problem takes care of itself. I dont care if Phillip invents a reason to quit that suits his ego.

Perhaps the PP Admin could send him a polite PM warning?
