1. A link to the member page would be great. Having an icon for the member profile either on the top, bottom and/or left margin or each post would be fine.
2. Posting pictures on the member page would be a nice touch. An option to post the same image (shrunken if necessary for space limitations) on the left margin of every post (like the PP teams current animated image) would also be nice. It helps people to quickly identify the poster in a thread.
3. Ed, the custom footer is usually called a "signature file" in forum parlance. I too would like to see this.
4. Opening the reply script in a new window is one way to handle the problem of referencing the original thread. Another (and cleaner IMHO) would be to simply append the thread to the bottom of the reply script page so that it is visible by scrolling down.
All we have that resembles a members page (that is of any use) would be the member network thingy. However, I am not sure that is as good / useful as it could be.
Would it be ok to add a button to take the reader straight to that page.
Fine by me. Location is already displayed to the left of every post. Perhaps it would be easy to add a button (for every post) that would take you directly to the posters member page?
I am not in favor of using cartoon avatars (pictures). Real pictures would be fine.

So your name is James?
By jumping to the members link as shown, you also get to see all contacts. See forum discussion Member Network Viewing Tool.
Only the personal info would in general be perfecto (but has no e-mail reference).
Could we be able to create a "custom" footer (like some of us already do) and/or postnumber within the thread?
(could you open the reply form in a new window, so I can switch back to the post during typing of the reply? - thanks)

For example... Member Page
We can add a picture, option to everyones member personal file so that if they choose to upload a picture then this could be incldued in each message.
We could do something similar in regard to a message footer.
Wot do you think? Any examples on other forums that you like?
