if some activities have not started at the status date, select these activities and click "Tools - Tracking - Update Project - Reschedule uncompleted works to start...." as suggested by Bo; then, update the remaining activities the way you did
As the programme doesnt now what have happened to those activities (not started, behind, maybe deleted, logic changed) laying before the status date, you need to tell the programme that this is the result you want to see.
You can do like this: "Tools - Tracking - Update Project - Reschedule uncompleted works to start...." (youll will see it already as default value has taken the status date).

I am sorry, i think i was not clear about me query earlier.
Project Start DAte : 6th Apr09
Project Statused Upto : 14th Aug09 (In MSP, the project status date has changed to reflect to display the same)
Problem : Despite doing the above, I find some activities that have baseline start and finish dates Prior to 14th AUg09 being showing the same dated even though they have not even started yet.
Hope this will help understand my issue better.

Vijay

when a activity has started, the Tracking Table shows the actual start date; when the activity is completed, you can read the actual finish date also
whatever the activity is, the Entry Table, asscoaited with the default Gantt Chart will always display "Start" and "Finish" dates, i.e. "Scheduled Start" and "Scheduled Finish"
MSP does not display Early Start OR Actual Start as P3 does.
