Hi Julius

I am not an M&E engineer but I have enough experience to incorprate M&E works into a construction project using proper bottom up planning principles.

I create a programme for each system in the project and link the start and end to the progress of the structure.

Last year I worked on the New University at Toulouse and there were - for instance - 47 AHU’s each with its own duct system.

So there was 47 different sub charts for each AHU.

The same with all the other sytems in the project.

It took 3 days to set up the whole programme.

Dear Mike,

I know exactly what you want to point out. A simple question must need a simple answer especially to beginners. Jerry only wants a sample of MEP plan and he is not asking a complex one just plain and simple. Thats why we have a MEP planner because he is solely planning on MEP works, and the integration and incorporation will come later and I reiterate Method Statement is another thing.

I hope you get my point. Thanks anyway.

Hi Julius

You are looking at this from the wrong end.

I am not setting down an M&E programme I am putting together what a construction planner needs to know about how to integrate M&E into his programme.

Anyway I will not be sending out any more examples.

Dear Mike,

Maybe you dont have no idea in mechanical & electrical works. Method statement is totally different with planning. First of all MS is prepared by QA department. I know this because I was once a mechanical QA/QC engineer and I prepared MS,ITPs,checklists,Quality plans,Quality procedures for Mechanical & electrical works.MS is a detailed installation procedure with all attached documents in relation with the euipment to be installed. Secondly, there is planning in MEP works because this is what I do at current, you will also provide EPS,OBS,WBS, activities, resource loading etc.

Hi Jerry

It is not a plan but a simple method statement aimed at builders who know nothing about M&E.

send me an email to planning.services@xlninternet.co.uk and I will forward a copy.

Hi All

Hi Samer

I apologise if I got your name wrong last time.

There is no simple method of integrating M&E works into a construction project.

The interfaces between the different trades is infinitly variable.

Send me an email to planning.services@xlninternet.co.uk and I will send you a paper that I wrote for the CIOB project of Best Practice for Time Management on the topic of M&E work.

Perhaps this will give you some guidance.
