Hi there,

The script has been changed so that a user can ONLY edit his / her message if that message is the last reply in a particular topic.

i.e. A user cannot go back in and change what they have said once someone has replied to that post.

This will also stop anyone from removing the contents of all of their posts at somer later point in time.

Do you think this solves the problem? As moderators, we can edit any post at any time.

Does this help?

Yes, I think that is a good idea.

Now that things on my new home and new employment life have settled down, I hope to be improving the scripts etc more and more.

So many ideas, so little time !

How did he edit his user name? Is this a desirable feature? I think it can lead to some serious abuse and confusion. I would suggest leaving usernames fixed once someone has registered.

Hi there,

We had an email from this member who said he was so upset with the rudeness of some of the users that he spent hours removing all of his posts.

We are now changing the EDIT script so that a PPer cant edit his/her message once someone has made a reply to it.

Does this sound OK. The user has advised that he will put his name back.

Regards.

We really need to have a policy published that outlines what is acceptable. I would prefer to require usernames that are real names and not "handles".

I just saw what you are referring to. It appears that there used to be some posts that have been deleted. Did someone get purged from the database?
