It is easy, but you need to make use of the tools available in P3.
Try filtering for critical activities (TF<1) to reduce the number of activities in view.
Use the Trace Logic window in Pert View. This shows a small window at the bottom of the screen with the selected activity in the centre. You can click on the activities either side to trace through the logic.
I agree 1000+ activities is hard to see on the screen!
