Some differences b/w P3 and P3e:

1. P3 only has 1 level for sub project, P3e using EPS to define some level of subprojects.

2. P3 can define direct material (m3 concrete, dia-in pipe) as resources , P3e can’t.

3. P3e provides work steps, P3 no.

4. P3e graphical report can show ev curve, P3 can’t.

5. etc.

David, it was not clear from your post what you are asking, so I will assume the worst case.

P3 is also called Primavera Project Planner. It was Primavera’s flagship scheduling tool for many years and has a large and loyal following.

Primavera now has "Enterprise" scheduling tools called Primavera Enterprise (P3e) and Primavera Enterprise for Engineering and Construction (P3e/c). They use a database backend like Oracle or SQLServer.

There are several threads here in the Planning Planet discussing P3 vs. P3e (P3e/c is basically the same as P3e as far as I understand it - only minor differences).

Hi,

There are a lot of differences between the two programs.

The Major one is the concept of control unit; in P3 you are controlling each project as a separate unit has its own resources, costs & reports.

But at P3e you are controlling the whole enterprise not only a project and with its other programs you can get a complete view of running and closed projects at any controlling level. This is the major topic but there are a lot of differences inside P3e and no way to view it at one report.
