Career Path Creation

Globally, the industry is short of planners, and with that in mind, there tends to also be a tilting of the scale as far as the male to female ratio is concerned. Understandably, some of the best industrial planners come from the trade sector, as having almost a hands on view of projects. And even if they don't most companies, at least here in Canada look for some sort of a trade background, or site experience to compliment their technical training. I would like to open this discussion to explore avenues to promote women into our fascinating profession. I believe the question always arises, so how does someone get started in a planning career. We can pull together our experiences and maybe even some new ideas to frame out a guide to this process. It will be a stepping stone to formalizing an introductory career path.
