I'm struggling to maintain a progress S-Curve in P6.
I can set up the initial S Curve actual vs budgeted. However the next month after adding progress, I find that the original budgeted figure has changed (increased) without me changing any durations in the original planned programme.
Anyone got any sugestions to what I doing wrong?
thanks
Sam
The better solution is at this link :

Gary,
The "Earned Value Calculation" is set as "at completion with current dates"
I do mean the total budgeted figue at completion, and also the planned cumulative value.
Its as if the Non labour units are getting reallocated to activities, after I've shut the project and reopened it. When progress its added into this it confuses the issue further.
I'm used to making S curves in Asta, so I'm expecting P6 to act in a similar way, which may explain some of my problems
thanks
Sam
Sam:
One more thing to check: In admin>admin preferences>earned value, what setting do you have for "Earned value calculation" at the bottom?
Also, could you clarify precisely what you mean by "original budgeted figure" increasing -Do you mean the total budget at completion for the project? Or the cumulative budgeted value to date (planned value)? Or the in-period budgeted value? Is it increasing for all activities or just some?
Barry: Please start a new topic to ask your question, rather than hi-jacking Sam's.
Cheers,
G
Thanks for the response Gary.
1) I added the baseline in "Maintain Baselines" and then I "Assign Baseline"
The current project isn't set as the current baseline
Sorry for not being clear, Sam
When you set your baseline, did you:
1) Add it using the "Project" > "Maintain Baselines" menu options, and then assign it using "Project" > "Assign Baselines"
2) Not use the "Maintain Baselines" menu, go straight to "Project" > "Assign Baseline" and select the "Current Project" option?
I do have a baseline assigned (the original programme). The S curve needs to be based on this programme
Sam
Sam,
Do you have a baseline project assigned, or are you using current project as your baseline?
