Ismail, for your question, there is no problem on P3 if the ACT ID is 10 characters or any less than 10.
Just a suggestion, but the Activity ID is really just the unique identifier P3 uses to tie in logic, resources etc. If you require longer IDs for an activity, try Custom Data Items.
HTH
The length of the activity ID is very much related to teh type of project. Im doing a lot fo work (if not all my work)in the petro-chemical enviroment and 9 out of 10 times the planning is based on the Enterprise / Workorder system used by our clients.
When transfering data from the Workorder system to the planning, we need to make sure that during this transfer existing tasks can be updated. A combination of the Workorder number and the task id will determine the length of the activity ID, which is 99.9% of the times 10 characters.
As I said, its purely depending on the type of plan and the enviroment.
Yep in our project it is a contractual requirement to have the activity ids clearly identifying the elements of the work hence it has to be 10 characters the maximum that P3 allows
Why did you kept ID more than 10 characrters? Its your project/ Phase requirement?
