Preparation S-Curve in P6

As an alternative to Excel, Project Tracker can create S curves straight from P6. It can create the curve without the need to add resource or cost allocations. If you have the XER file you can create the curve without P6 on your machine. You can find more information about the software and download a free trial at www.willmer.co.uk

Your welcome.

Whenever I see a reference I like I either print it to PDF or using the cursor Copy and Paste into MS Word and save the reference.

It is always good to keep the link as for any new versions of your software they might update the tutorial.

Best regards,

Rafael

Just make sure you get early and late curves, otherwise you will get 50%. Would be like if in the middle of the sea knowing your latitude but not your longitude.

I understand that you can create tabular reports in P6, that these reports can be saved as templates and that these can be exported to Excel. Therefore after creating your template it will just be a matter of a few clicks.

The following is an example of how it is done in other software that in addition to be able to create S Curves at the click of the mouse it is also able to create tabular reports and export the values to Excel.

I believe it is easier to edit yout report templates to change resources or phases to be tabulated rather than creating from scratch the report every time.

Hope this advice can be of some further help after you learn how to create your tabular reports.

Rafael

Hi Arnold,

Thanks a lot for your prompt response and I apologize to submit your reply by delay.

Actually in our project, specifying Cost & exact resources for all delivery packages are not simple and for measuring progress we shall prepare a Weight Factors for all activities and this Weight Factor Contains 2 or 3 elements which are "Estimated Cost" + "Time" + "Risk".

The sum of all Weight Factors should be 100 % and shall be calculated in Excel files.

Weight Factors have been exported in filed of Budget Quantity in P3 and then S-Curve shall be prepared by software graph accordingly. (I provided the related procedure and if you like please send your Email address to submission.)

I want to know is it possible to provide Project S-Curve with the same methodology or we should use just Project Resources for preparing S-Curve.

Hi Hamid,

If you don’t mind can you cite an example how the scenario is? Because, right now, we had also the same problem with regards to the weight factor. But this is cost wise and we consider this as part of resources.

I hope I can help.

Regards,

Arnold

Dear Arnold

Thanks a lot from your prompt response and guideline

Actually I downloaded before your mentioned procedure from your address in 4shared but my major question is that how can we import the Project Weight Factor in P6. As I mentioned, in P3 we have imported the Project Weight Factors in Budget Quantity filed of P3. This Weight Factors are not considered just Cost basis and we Combined 2 elements "Time & Cost" for Weight Factors so this items can not be considered as resources.

Please if you have any similar experience help me.

Thanks in Advanced

Hamid
