Dear sudheesh,
Without deleting the resources you cannot have the effect that you want.
Maybe you should see
View>resource profile
select the "Manhours" resource from there .

Just modify and select the resource u want.. that it and run..
I have many resources in my dictionary. also i cant delete any one of these resources. Can i make a layout based on some particular resources and summarize the same. Please explain if u know...

layout by resource mean u need to assign a unique resource name or ID. these could be in term of disciple work or system works. then just use a summary by resource, then run it.. eg Mechanical works, Piping works, electrical works etc..

But i dint underastand what u mean by create a layout by resources, Thankful if u could explain it to me. I can use excel but i wana know is there any method to do it.

I would suggest that you create a layout by resources and then summarize it, perhaps that is what you have in mind otherwise just use the excel...
Thanks for ur reply. But i hope u dint get me. If i summarize by resources it will take all the resources including material without considering their units. Instead i need to summarize based on some specific category of resources only, like man hours..
Have u try using summary by resource report? At least it give you a layout of waht u are doing in excel.. save time
