Repairing Activity Form

I forgot to say that this P3 is not network but a single user on the laptop. Also, we are aware of the more and less button however for some reason there is "condensing" going on. I will look to see in p3.ini where the files goes.

Thanks,

James B.

James,

In P3, the activity form has a "more" button if you want to show all the activity codes beneath the ID, OD, RD, Pct, Type and so on. Once you click this button, it will show all and it will become named "less" button. It is use to hide or show the activity codes in the activity form.

On the other hand, since you said everything is alright when you are on a network and doesn’t lose anything, you may check out how you have configured your P3 during installation. P3 ask you specific directories to store you files as like shown below.

[Directories]

PROGLOC=C:\P3WIN\P3PROGS

WORKLOC=C:\P3WIN\P3WORKS

USERLOC=C:\P3WIN\P3OUT

PROJ=C:\P3WIN\PROJECTS

PRMZLOC=C:\P3WIN\P3WORKS\PRMZFIL.P3

USERFILLOC=C:\P3WIN\P3WORKS\USERFIL.P3

This can be changed manually and will redirect P3 once you start again.

Check you P3.ini file which is located on the windows directory. I surmised that some of your directories might have been configured to be on your network drive.

Hope this helps.

James,

What are you guys on?

The problem must be data rather than the program itself. I don’t think the laptop Vs. Network issue is important because unless you are editing the P3.ini file when you undock, whatever configuration you are running docked you are running networked, P3 is too old to do anything smart!

You need to rebuild the data files from scratch. Just copying the project files will probably just take the problem with it. It usually does. The troble is almost certainly the activity code dictionary file.

I would start by using RA to copy the activity code dictionary to a new set of files, copy paste some of the activities into the new filers and see if the problem is fixed with a reloaded activity code dictionary.
