Paul,

I am still unable to open these files, if you don’t mind, can I also e-mail them to you to take a look.

Thank you very much in advance.

Bijaya,

Slightly unlike your problem, I don’t even see the project name on the list in the "Open" window. Good luck to you though.

I have found that those files which I could not open in P3, opens easily in Suretrack.

I don’t know how reliable is conversion from P3 to Suretrack in terms of calendars.

Paul, I also found that those files were possible to be open by a workmate of mine in another location when I sent him those as zipped file. It seems to be a problem in my computer after installation of P6 which was done just a few days ago).

I have got a similar problem too.

I have some old P3 files - they were all created in the same computer I am still using.

The projects also appear in the list.

But when I try to open the project, P3 does not open it. At the bottom of the screen I can see a message "Opening layout" - the process which never gets completed. When I click anywhere on the screen, then I see a message on top of the screen (Primavera Project Planner (Not Responding).

When I close the programme, another message pops in "You chose to end the nonresponsive program NTVDM.EXE.

Restarting the computer has not solved the problem, either.

It appears to be a conflict of 16 bit and 32 bit programmes. Can anybody suggest me how to get out of this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Bijaya

please also check the file attribute, security. Sometime these settings make the file display properly.

There is an article on my web site at www.eh.com.au under technical articles that explains how to use batch.

Primavera also provide a fully automated version of batch on the P3 CD but I have not been able to make it work on any of my machines.

My article covers the manual method.

Jeff,

When PFXW fails to corect an apparent file coruption problem, Project Utilities / Copy Project sometimes cures it. When you scheudles next appear, have P3 make a copy of them. Good luck!

Alexandre,

I still have no luck with opening the files, any suggestions? I heard there is a "batch" system but I don’t know how to use it.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Alexandre,

Thanks for your reply.

I had moved the files into a folder directly at C:\, i.e. C:\p3_files. I thought the long path maybe giving P3 a problem so I moved the folder directly into C:\.

The names of the project that used to show up from time to time at the old computers were PW15, PW16... all the way to PW45. The ones that did show up were named PW01 all the way to PW14. PW15 was actually a copy of PW14 with progress update information included, and PW16 is a copy of PW15 and so on. I was copying and updating on a monthly basis.

Thank you again for your time.
