You can creat the Hammock activity in boath way. It is better in my opnion to use A1,a2,a3,b1,b2,b3 rather then HA, HB.

copy the file you are working on and experiment ....
try what will happen ...........
put the WHAT IF SCENARIOS...........

you can create Hammock H for covering HA and HB. it will show up the overall summary for the HA and HB.

i hv activties A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3
and hammock HA covering A1, A2, A3
and hammock HB covering B12, B2, B3
question:
in P3
can i create hammock H covering HA and HB?
or must i create H to cover A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3?
Thanks guys your advise has helped alot. i think i need to rethink how to set up my schedule. im now thinking hammocks arent the way to go with this particular issue.
Yes Whatever Ronald suggested is the only way to solve your problem. If anyone else know any other way of Hammocking the activities please post reply.
Mark,
You also have to set up the same 5 activities as Predecessors to the Hammock with Start-to-start relationships. Then re-calculate the CPM.
The ‘roll-up’ occurs when you code the lower activities to be filtered-out ot the current view or report, leaving just the summary Hammock activity to represent them. Good luck!
