Zubair,

An excellent reply, and it describes it beautifully....but oooohhhh so cynical. The conclusion is then....become a client.

Shall all of us planners pool our money and build a hotel, complete with it’s own power-station, thus requiring a rail link to supply the fuel.

VENGEANCE WILL BE OURS!!!

James :-)

* prepare master schedule for construction

* prepare detail(weekly/monthly)schedule for construction

* prepare scheduling procedure for project/subcontractor

* write schedule requirements of contracts

* review schedules from others

* preside schedule meeting

* prepare weekly/monthly progress report

* resource/cost loading & reporting

Hi Xifan Xie,

Firstly, you’ll need to work out what reports people will expect from you. This usually determines what stage the project is at and then the level of detail we’ll need. Usually they will want to know when the project will finish and what activities are driving this finish date (that is the critical path). Secondly they might want to know what has to be done in the next few weeks (that is the 2 week lookahead). Thirdly they’ll probably want to know if some things can be done sooner and some later (you’ll need to check the available float for that).

If you can establish what you need first I’ll walk you thru it by email.
