Vladimir,

I mean that neither MSP or PS works well with a very large amount of tasks.

On the other hand, P3 lets several people access the same project schedule at the same time and edit different activities because P3 only locks the activity, not the whole schedule. Both MSP and PS are file oriented (the same if you save the schedules in a database) and therefore several people cannot access and edit the same file at the same time.

John,

If you want to compare PS8 to any PM software, it is not stupid to tell that PS8 is much closer to MSP than to P3.

Closer because PS8 is a general purpose PM software and not dedicated to huge projects.

It is also much stronger and reliable than MSP, any release you want to tell about.

To get a broad view of the softare, visit the www.sciforma.com website and read the PS8 pages (PSNext is comparable to Primavera P5.0).

I have been working on PS since PS5 for MS DOS in the early 90’s, and I must admit it definitely is my favourite: the easiest to use, the strongest and most reliable, it has much more functionnalities than MSP, Critical chain for instance.

Good luck

Alexandre

Hi Alexandre,

Well, the issue is, I’m currently using P3 but, due to the difficulty in converting P3 schedules to MS Office programmes, there is the possibility of diverting to a more spread sheet-compatible suite like PS8.

I would appreciate all your expert advice.

Thanks also Bernard for the suggestion.

Happy planning,

John
