The basics shall be similar to Syed and Jorge then complicated resource modeling shall follow. I am sure some user of P6 will provide you with the same/similar basic steps but in terms of P6 commands.

Rohit,

Post no 4? It is not no. 4 any longer, better find out a way to make a reference that moves with the always changing post numbers until Hunt Data Solutions and Vit-al Interactive, the wbsite developers, realize the issue and figure it out.

Rafael

Dear All,

Can anyone guide for Primavera 6.0 like Mr Syed has done in his post # 4 (Resource Planning and analysis is done in 3 steps in P3) for P 3.

hi friends,

Resource planning is very simple and accurate by using CCS

software. It integrates the estimate to the program . The best thing is the management gets answer in one language from the estimator and planner.

Hi Sagar!

Basic things to know about resource planning:

1. Define Resources - (Data, Resources)

2. Load Resources onto Activities - (Ctrl-R)

3. Compare Supply vs. Demand - (View, Resource Table)

If you set (1) and (2) properly, then the resource table will have red and black numbers. Red means you have resource overloads. Use the Resource Profile (View, Resource Profile) to see a graphical loading of selected resources.

So far, all of the foregoing is taught in P3 Course 601 (Basic). From this point forward, the discussion is taught in P3 Course 602 - Resource Management.

When you have overloads, P3 has a Resource Levelling feature but before you can use this, I really advise you to take Course 602 because you will have to understand Independent and Meeting types of activities, resource splitting and crunching, and special constraints that are not discussed in the Basic Course (601).

Anyway, Resource leveling is a nifty tool which allows you (if at all possible) to finish your project on time, with no resource overloads (no overtime, even).

Best Regards,

Jorge

Hi,

Resource Planning and analysis is done in 3 steps in P3.

1. Setup your resource dictionary

- Click Menu

- Add Resource ID(8 characters max), unit of measure, calendar, resource description, normal and maximum limits and price / unit

2. Assign resources-For each activity with resources enter the following information as a minimum in the resource detail form, click menu

- Resource ID

- Units / time or Budgeted units

3. Analyse the resource usage - Can be done by viewing the resource profile / spreadsheet or by running reports.

Let me know if you require further help.

Hi,

The very first thing you need to do os define the resources in P3 (Go to DataResources). You need to provide many details here like units, description etc..After this, you need to allocate these resources to the activites in the P3. Once done, run the report(ToolsTabular reports
esourceloading).Mention the filter, resource selection, format and other details in thei report and run this. You will get the resource loading report.

You can plot the graph in excel to to see the variation. Let me knwo if you have any further queeries.
