Delaying activities already started

Hi

I agree with these opinions. And you have other option to delay an activity by using relation type for example: you can use "Finish to Finish" relation with other task and you can add lag which will control the finish date of your delayed activity. I have encountered this problem before.

to suspend activity, u must have another relation to the predecessor of the activity to be suspend the reason.

1.client they do need progress to be achieve,

2.contractor they employ worker to do work, not just hangging with doing nothing.

so when u suspend the activities, u can shift the manpower to another place, and get better progress without wasting time and cost.

Although the activity can be suspended in this case but if the delay is specific and have contineous effect then you may add a new and seperate activity

IMHO, the suspend/resume feature in P3 should be used sparingly, as it does not have a high level of visibility and lacks traceability.

Much better to complete the activity to the stage you are at, and create a new activity for the delayed work with suitable annotation to explain why.

1. change remaining duration,or

2. edit task/resource calendar

3. suspend the task

I haven’t tried,as there is no P3 with me.
