Employed initially as an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter, on completion of my ONC / HNC qualifications I gained experience on various installations working mainly on the KA (Ketone Alcohol) and Acids Plant. Applied for the position of Junior Planning Engineer and worked on shutdown and maintenance planning

Junior Planning Engineer, Specific duties included co-ordination and liaison with client representatives. Aiding the Enron Senior Planning Engineer with the progress reporting utilising Artemis planning software tool. Supervising the Material Control dept including traceability of materials issued to fabrication shops and site, updating and reporting on material status utilising computer database (Dbase 3 & 4). Initially responsible for the set-up and development of the stores and reconciliation systems.

Planning Engineer. During my employment with Mech Tool Engineering my duties included, preparing Summary EPC planning charts utilising AutoCAD, allocation of materials to various offshore installations projects, maintaining steel stock cutting sheets in order to maximise material usage.

Materials mainly included steel and Rock wool for the fabrication of blast/fire walls. I was also responsible for the timely approval procedure for all Vendor Documentation.

Implementation Co-coordinator/Planning Engineer, Co-ordinating the integration of a new fully automated Home Office system including Planning/Project Control Purchasing and field material control system. Duties as appointed software ’Super User’ included technical support and making any required changes to ensure systems in line with company procedures. Re-located to Kvaerner Process Warrington to fill same role.

Reviewing historical plant information and collating previous shutdown data/lessons learned etc

Highlighting initial staff requirements. Highlighting IT Hardware and Software requirements

·     Field Planning/Work List Management Briefing Field Planners on systems i.e. Introduction to planning norms, Job Method Statements, Material Control, Risk Assessments etc.

Responsible for the production of FEL level 1, 2 and 3 Schedules including a BASF/Huntsman joint ‘Common’ schedule, Basic Engineering and Extended Basic Design schedules for a joint venture Chinese Partnership Integrated Iso-Cyanates Project. Expediting P&ID and Datasheet production, from Process through to CAD/Disciplines. Production of various KPI S-Curves. Attendance to Monthly and Weekly progress meeting both in house and Client hosted.

Initially Contracted to Oversee Planning and Co-ordinate T7 PTA Shutdown including directing field planners and assisting with Mechanical Job Planning, Reporting to the Plant steering committee on maters of concern. Producing documentation and graphics to support position for planning and cost daily. On very successful completion (on time and within budget) I was approached to take on the much larger Project of T8 PTA Shutdown with the same capacity as above. Again a very successful Event leading to an offer on the Wilton Improvement Project, Budget Euro 50 Million.
