(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi
Would like to know what excatly is methodolgy to be adpoted for carrying out revision in the target schedule.
I mean , say a contract gets a time extension of original project for carrying out some addtional work. Do we have to give target schedule for the whole project or only for the remaining scope of work along with additional allocated work.
Recently i submitted revised schedule for one project having same case . I presented new target as revised updated schedule till that data date. Consultant commented that original target with new scope to be first submitted . Is that true. Can it be done and will that be logical as many events may not have happened as per original target schedule. All , please provide ur valueable comments.

It all depends wat your contract say.

Have you received an extension of time ?.

If yes does your current forecast reflects the same dates as per the extension of time. (The extension of time should be an contract ammendment)

If no why not. Remember you can only reqeust an extension of time for the owner delay portion ??. I have found it easier to show this on the original target schedule because this stop all arguments about who is to blame for the delay. What is nice about it it will show you exactly what infuance it has on your Original critical path.

If you want to use your time now schedule you must use your forecast at the time of the increase of QTY. Not at the time after the extension of time.

AS an example

Your schedule say a 10 weeks for an activity.
On week 3 the QTY is increased and your new forecast date is the extension of time.
On week 5 Progress is delayed by the contractor.
On week 7 the extension of time is granted. And you submit your current forecast as the new target. The Consultant will argue that week 5 is due to the contractor and not the increase of scope.

On what dates must the extension of time be based on week 3 / 5 / 7 ????.

The answer is very simple as per the extension of time. That is why all the contract I am used say you have 7 day’s after the event to notify the engineer for an extension of time.

Please note that these are the baseline dates that should be used in your target schedule.

Dear Anil,

In my opinion, you have to use the updated schedule, just for an example,UD10 for which you had obtained EOT from the client as your target schedule, name the UD10 as a convenient target file name, like BA02 or TA02 so and then use copy of the latest updated schedule may be UD14 or so name it as UD15 to continue your update for the next month submission which will be having a target file of BA02 or TA02.

In my view, you should submit a revised schedule showing only the remaining works to completion, including the additional work.
